| Safety And Security |
|
|
From overall structure to stiffer mountings for side mirrors,
the 2005 Chrysler 300 provides safety down to the smallest
detail.
- The safety cage architecture protects occupants by managing
and controlling energy in the event of an accident
- The energy-absorbing steering wheel and steering column
is designed minimize injuries that could be caused in a
frontal impact
- Even the spare tire is positioned to rotate away from
the fuel tank in the event of a rear end collision
|
| Headlamps & Mirrors |
|
|
"See and be seen" doesn't just
apply to looks and performance.
- High Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlamps
enhance visibility by reaching further into the night thanks
to Xenon bulbs that last longer, use less power, and provide
up to 70% more light than halogen lamps. To maximize visibility,
high pressure headlamp washers help keep the light shining
brightly (optional on 300C)
- Available electrochromic, inside and
driver outside mirrors dim automatically to reduce glare
and relieve nighttime driving eye strain.
|
| ESP - Electronic Stability Program |
| The available advanced Electronic
Stability Program (ESP) aids the driver in maintaining vehicle
directional stability. It monitors factors including steering
angle, turning rate and lateral acceleration to determine vehicle
behavior. Once the system determines that vehicle behavior differs
from the driver's intended course, ESP will do whatever can
be done, within the limits of available traction, to keep the
car on course.
To help keep all that power in check, the
Chrysler 300 features an advanced braking system. Large 4-wheel-disc
antilock brakes are standard on all 300 models. 300 Touring,
300 Limited and 300C add ABS, Traction Control and ESP. Air
ducts channel air to cool front brakes, enhancing performance
and brakes life. ABS increases directional stability under
extreme braking conditions. The Emergency Brake Assist feature
can detect a driver's intended panic stop, and apply optimum
brake pressure to help achieve minimum stopping distances.
No system, no matter how sophisticated,
can repeal the laws of physics or overcome careless driving
actions. Performance is limited by available traction, which
snow, ice and other conditions can affect. When the ESP warning
lamp in the speedometer flashes, the driver needs to use less
throttle and adapt speed and driving behavior to prevailing
road conditions. Always drive carefully, consistent with conditions.
Please always wear your seat belt.

| Self-Sealing Tires |
|
| As an added safety feature on
the Chrysler 300, Chrysler has introduced available self-sealing
tires. If a sharp object punctures* your tire, a special sealant
helps to reduce your chance of getting a flat by filling the
puncture and minimizing the loss of air pressure.
* Punctures up to .19 in. (5mm) can
be sealed preventing 80% of today's flat tires.
|
| Air Bags |
|
|
Because
performance, luxury and styling are still only parts of the
story, safety comes standard on every Chrysler 300.
Front, Next Generation multi-stage air bags empowered
by the Occupant Classification System (OCS) are standard on
all 300 models. * OCS deploys the front passenger air bag
according to the weight of the front passenger.
Supplemental, side curtain air bags* are available
on all models with the Protection Group offering additional
side-impact protection to front and rear seat outboard occupants
in the event of a side impact
* Certified to the Federal Regulation
for automatic passenger occupant classification. Always use
seat belts. Children 12 and under should always be in a backseat
correctly using an infant or child restraint system, or the
seat belt positioned correctly for the child's age and size. The
OCS determines the conditions for activation or deactivation
of the passenger-side front air bag based upon the weight
of the occupant. It may not activate the air bag if the occupant
has incorrect seating posture or is moving in the seat. You
should observe the air bag lamp to determine if the OCS is
deciding properly. Passengers should sit properly in the seat
with the seat belt fastened at all times.
