Cruiser models, and prevents the engine from running without
a properly encoded key, to help shut out thieves. The available
Remote Keyless Entry controls door and liftgate/decklid locks,
and includes a panic alarm for extra security, so convenience
and safety are both at your fingertips.

The PT Cruiser experience includes a reassuring sense of
protection. That's because we've included some of the most
up-to-date safety features like Next Generation driver and
passenger front air bags*.
The available supplemental side air bags* (standard on '04
PT Cruiser Limited, Platinum Series, GT, Dream Cruiser Series
3, and '05 PT Cruiser Convertible GT) for front occupants
offer additional protection for driver and front-outboard
passenger in the event of a collision.

'04 PT Cruiser's overall body structure contributes
to solid ride and handling characteristics through rigid support,
and serves as a firm foundation for PT Cruiser's safety and
security features. Longitudinal steel door beams offer dynamic
side-impact protection and a unique transverse beam connects
the center pillars and ties into the floor pan at the center
tunnel.
The 2005 PT Cruiser Convertible shares
the same structural characteristics with the sedan. Two transverse
beams connect the center (D) pillars and tie into the floor
panel. Plus, the combination of the aerodynamic sport bar
with the kick-up reinforcement and additional rear seat structure
support provide significant rear end vehicle stiffness.

| Antilock Brakes |

 '04
PT Cruiser's front disc and rear drum brakes provide smooth
operation and good pedal feel. Large-diameter front rotors
ensure ample stopping ability and heat resistance. Standard drum-type rear brakes have stamped
steel hub sections and cast iron friction surfaces. (Standard
on the '05 PT Cruiser Convertible and Touring.)
For added braking security in slippery
conditions, front disc/rear drum antilock brakes are available
on '04 PT Cruiser and '05 PT Cruiser Convertible Touring,
while four-wheel-disc performance antilock brakes with low-speed
traction control are available on '04 PT Cruiser Touring,
Limited and Platinum and '05 PT Cruiser Convertible Touring,
and standard on '04 PT Cruiser GT and Dream Cruiser Series
3 and '05 PT Cruiser Convertible GT.
